What is TRACERT ?

The Tracert command is a valuable tool that helps you trace the path your internet data takes from your computer to a specific destination, like a website. It shows you the "hops" or intermediate steps your data packets go through, revealing the network infrastructure they travel across. This information can be essential for diagnosing network issues, pinpointing slowdowns, and understanding how data flows through the internet. Traceroute is your map to exploring the fascinating journey your data goes on when you browse the web.

How to use TRACERT ?

1. Click the Start menu or press the Windows key.

2. Type "cmd" or "Command Prompt" into the search bar.

3. Click on "Command Prompt" from the search results.

4. In the Command Prompt or Terminal window, type the following command: "tracert (The address you wish to trace)" For an example ; "tracert 8.8.8.8" When done press Enter

5. Results according to the example command issued;

   1. The tracert command will begin tracing the route to 8.8.8.8 and display a list of "hops" or intermediate destinations that your data packets travel through.

   2. You'll see the IP addresses and the round-trip times for each hop, indicating the path your data takes to reach the destination.
